John leads the Internal Audit Office for the University, providing audit and advisory services to the Lawrence and KU Medical Center campuses and affiliated corporations. His position has reporting relationships to the Chancellor, the Kansas Board of Regents, and the University's Chief Financial Officer to help ensure independence and objectivity in the performance of the Office’s work.
Prior to joining KU in December 2012, John was the city auditor for Olathe, Kansas and held audit positions with Sprint and the Kansas Legislative Division of Post Audit. He has a master's degree in public service and administration from the Bush School of Government at Texas A&M University and a bachelor's degree in political science from Pittsburg State University. He is a certified internal auditor and certified government auditing professional. John also lectures in KU's School of Public Affairs and Administration, teaching a graduate-level course in government performance auditing.
